Signature's Jewelry Designer, LaNorma Huggins-Hopes, inspiration for her one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces comes from the Original Mardi Gras in her mother,s hometown of Mobile, Alabama and her grandmother , the late Maxine Taylor. As a young girl LaNorma was drawn to the festive colors, elaborate masks, and symbols of carnival. Infused with this inspiration, LaNorma created a collection bursting at the seams with vibrant color, magical craftsmanship and a bit of mystery.
LaNorma launched Signature Designs by LaNorma, LLC with the Mardi Gras Collection and quickly grew her business to include six signature collections, including the Maxi Collection inspired by her "queen of all crafts" grandmother, the late Maxine Taylor. LaNorma has appeared on Marketplace, The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur Blog, Savor the Success Foundation Vlog, Miss Serendipity Fashion Blog, Ballston Arts blog and her pieces have been featured in the NY Women in Communications events, Crystal Couture, two week fashion event in DC metro area, Artomatic Art in Fashion event, and DC Fashion Week's International Couture Collection showcase. Recently, Signature Designs by LaNorma was a finalist in a European Design Contest sponsored by Swarovski and Perle Co. Signature's jewelry pieces can be found at local boutiques in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
LaNorma has traveled the United States taking jewelry classes from various award winning jewelry artists, such as Michael David Sturlin (Wire crochet), Nick Barnes (metalsmithing), Carol Zillacus (Polymer clay), Alice Alper-Rein (Precious Metal clay), and Noel Yovovich (Wire design) to name a few.
